Why Work at A One Accountants
A One Accountants has grown to more than 20,000 tax returns lodged for over 5,000 clients across Melbourne and beyond, and that growth has come from building a team of registered tax agents, accountants and support staff who genuinely care about getting client outcomes right. We’re not a large impersonal firm – you’ll work directly with clients, take ownership of your work, and have a real say in how things are done, while still having the backing of an established, growing practice.
Roles We Typically Hire For
We regularly look for registered tax agents and accountants at various experience levels, from graduates working towards their CPA or CA qualification through to experienced senior accountants and SMSF specialists. We also hire for bookkeeping, client services and administrative support roles across our offices. If you don’t see a specific opening advertised but believe you’d be a good fit, we still encourage you to get in touch.
What We Look For
Beyond the right qualifications and experience, we look for people who communicate clearly with clients, take genuine pride in accuracy, and are comfortable working across a broad range of tax and accounting matters rather than a single narrow specialty. Local knowledge of the areas we serve is a bonus but not essential – what matters most is a client-first attitude and a willingness to keep learning as tax law changes.
Career Growth and Development
We support ongoing professional development, including study support for CPA, CA or Tax Practitioners Board registration requirements, and genuine pathways to take on more responsibility as you grow with the firm – whether that’s managing your own client base, specialising in SMSF or business advisory work, or moving into a more senior or leadership role.
How to Apply
Send your resume and a short cover letter outlining your experience and the type of role you’re interested in. We review every application personally and will get back to you whether or not there’s a current opening that matches your background.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a registered tax agent to apply?
Not necessarily – we hire at all levels, from graduates and bookkeepers through to registered tax agents and senior accountants. If you’re working towards registration, we can discuss how our roles support that progression.
Do you offer graduate or entry-level positions?
Yes – we regularly bring on graduates and junior staff and support them through study requirements for CPA, CA or Tax Practitioners Board registration.
Which offices are you hiring for?
Openings vary across our Melbourne offices and other locations from time to time. Get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s currently available and where.
What’s the culture like at A One Accountants?
We’re a growing firm that still operates with a personal, client-first approach rather than a large impersonal corporate structure – you’ll have direct client contact and real input into how your work is done.
How do I apply if there’s no specific role listed?
Send us your resume and a short note about what you’re looking for. We keep good applications on file and reach out when a suitable role comes up.
